Made 21 appearances with two starts in his first campaign with the Tigers. Posted an 0-4 record with a 6.03 ERA. Struck out 20 in 37.1 innings pitched. Did not allow a home run all season. Made his Pacific debut on Feb. 19, pitching two-thirds of an inning without allowing a run. Tossed 1.2 shutout innings against Kansas State on Feb. 26, allowing one hit and striking out two. Threw two innings of shutout ball against Sacramento State, recording five of the outs via strikeout, his season-high for Ks in an appearance. Tossed 2.2 shutout innings of relief in the Tigers’ win over No. 13 Cal on April 5. Faced the minimum in a one-inning stint against UC Davis on May 6. Allowed one earned run on 3.2 innings of work against Stanford on May 9. Finished the season with three consecutive shutout innings over Cal Poly (May 21) and Cal (May 24).
Prior to Pacific (Seward Community College, 2009-10):
Jared Wagner appeared in 11 games with six starts at Seward Community College in 2010. Posted a 2-4 record with a 5.55 ERA in 35.1 innings pitched. Struckout 15 batters and posted one complete game. Wagner threw in 12 games as a freshman in 2009 recording a 3-0 record and picking up one save. He threw 19.1 innings in his first season for the Saints posting a 6.16 ERA while striking out 12 opposing batters. His best outing of the season came against rival Garden City when he threw 4 innings without giving up an earned run while striking out 2 and not walking a batter. Throwing mainly out of the Saints bullpen, Wagner was used as a long man last season throwing two or more innings in 6 of his 12 appearances.
Attended high school at De La Salle, and played under coach Eric Borba for three seasons. Wagner was an honorable mention All-State performer and was chosen to both the Perfect Game and Area Code Showcases in California. Wagner is a two-time NCS Scholar Athlete.
