STOCKTON, Calif. – The University of the Pacific baseball team fell in the final game of the series to Gonzaga University on Sunday afternoon, 7-1.
The Orange and Black fall to 14-20 overall and 5-10 in the West Coast Conference, while the Bulldogs improve to 18-16 on the season and 9-6 in conference play.
After two scoreless innings, the Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third. Carter Hayes led off and was walked to land on base for the Tigers. Kevin Sandri stepped up and pushed Hayes to second on a sacrifice bunt. Keaton Glover followed up with a single up the middle to score Hayes.
From there, the Bulldogs two runs in the fourth, one in the eighth, and four in ninth to take the 7-1 victory.
On the mound, Cooper Casad was charged with the loss after pitching six innings with two strikeouts. Mac Lardner picked up the win for the Bulldogs with four strikeouts and giving up just one run through six innings. Casey Legumina earned the save after two innings with three strikeouts.
The Tigers head to Nevada for one game on Tuesday, April 17 with first pitch set for 3:00 p.m.
