STOCKTON, Calif. – On Nov. 15, the UC Davis Aggies won in Stockton for the first time since the 1939-40 season as they handed the Pacific Tigers a 62-58 loss at the Alex G. Spanos Center. Pacific, which has won five of its seven games since then, will have a chance to even the score on Wednesday night at The Pavilion, with tip-off set for approximately 7:30 p.m. PT. It will mark the back end of an in-season home-and-home series between the two schools and mark Pacific's first visit to Davis since Jan. 5, 2013, when they beat Davis 74-64 in their final season in the Big West.
The Aggies have gone 3-2 in the five games since their last meeting with the Tigers. Most recently, the Aggies upset Washington State on Saturday in Pullman, 81-67. TJ Shorts was the leading point-getter for the Aggies with 20. Chima Moneke notched a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. UC Davis shot 62.5 percent in the second half and had a field goal percentage of 54.5 percent for the contest. They held the Cougars to just 35.7 percent shooting in the first half.
Pacific, which has won five of its last six contests, dispatched Arkansas Fort-Smith 105-68 on Sunday afternoon at the Spanos Center. The Tigers finished November with back-to-back wins versus Canisius and at UC Riverside. With those wins, Pacific finished the month of November at the .500 mark for the first time since 2014. Their win at Riverside was the first versus a Big West opponent since Nov. 30, 2013.
Jahlil Tripp is averaging close to a double-double per game (9.8 PPG/9.6 RPG) for the Tigers. Roberto Gallinat enters Wednesday's contest leading the Tigers with 13.4 points per game and Anthony Townes is next in line with 11 points per game.
In the team's first meeting on Nov. 15, Moneke led all scorers with 26 points while grabbing a game-high 10 rebounds for the Aggies. Gallinat and Tripp led the way in the contest with 14 and 12 points, respectively. The Tigers lost despite outscoring the Aggies 31-28 in the second half.
