LA QUINTA, Calif. – Pacific men's golf wrapped up its final regular-season schedule Tuesday with a ninth place finish at the Loyola Marymount-hosted Gieberger Invitational at the PGA West Nicklaus Tournament Course in La Quinta, Calif.
The Tigers struggled to take Monday's momentum into Tuesday's final round of 18, shooting round-high of 305 to finish the 54-hole event at +22, 886.
Stockton native, Anthony Madrid finished as Pacific's top golfer for the first time this season after registering a 26th place finish with a 3-over 219. Madrid shot fairly consistently in his three rounds with scores of 73, 72, and 74.
Casey Scott trailed Madrid closely, finishing in a tie for 35th with a 6-over 222. Daniel Peña, who concluded Monday play as the Tigers' leader shot 82 in his final round to drop to 41st (224, +8). Austin Fox totaled 228 (+11), while Jee Horsangchai recorded a 229 (+13) for the tournament.
Next week Men's Golf will return to Southern California for the West Coast Conference Championships. This year's event will be hosted April 16-18 at Carlton Oaks Golf Club in Santee.
