Pacific Wraps Up Regular Season With Victory Over Saint Mary’s

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Pacific men's tennis team finished the season strong as they rolled over Saint Mary's, 4-0 on Saturday for their third-straight West Coast Conference win.  Alex Giannini, Tadiwa Chinamo, and Lance Ngo all posted singles wins for the Tigers.  

In doubles, the senior pair of Giannini and Lance Ngo quickly defeated Matthew Campana and Manuel Lamelas, 6-1, while Chinamo and Akram El Sallaly dominated Damon Kesaris and Nash Vollenweider, 6-3 to put the Tigers up 1-0.

Ross Watson and Bernardo Oliveira were ahead 5-3 when their matched was declared unfinished.

In singles, Ngo defeated Jacob Lagman in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, while Chinamo trounced on Campana, 6-4, 6-2.  With the Black and Orange up 3-0, Giannini shut the door on the Gaels as he won his match 6-3, 6-4 to shutout Saint Mary's, 4-0.  

El Sallaly was up in his match 7-6(3), 4-1 and Watson was leading in his match 4-6, 6-2, 4-1 before the match went unfinished.  

For the seniors, Giannini and Diaz both finish the 2016-2017 campaign at 13-8 overall and 5-2 in the WCC.  

Overall, the Tigers finish the season 11-14 and 4-5 as the Gaels drop to 7-16 overall and 2-7 in WCC action.
