Men's Tennis Heads to ITF Futures

STOCKTON, Calif. – The University of the Pacific men's tennis fall schedule gets underway with the International Tennis Federation Futures Tournament in Laguna Niguel, California beginning on Saturday, September 15.

The ITF Men's Circuit provides the entry level of Professional Tournaments enabling players to eventually reach the higher-level tournaments on the ATP World Tour. The circuit offers 600+ tournaments across 70+ countries and incorporates two prize levels of tournaments known as 'Futures'.

The Tigers will be represented by two student-athletes in Ross Watson and freshman Philip Hjorth.

Ross Watson

Watson, a native of Lancashire, England, ranks 159th nationally for Great Britain. Last season, Watson went 4-11 overall and competed best at No. 2 singles, where he went 2-2. He earned All-Academic Honorable Mention honors at the end of last season.

Philip Hjorth

Hjorth ranks 34th in the nation for Denmark and joins Pacific in the 2018-19 academic year. Hailing from Denmark, Hjorth was crowned the Danish Men's Singles Champion in April 2018. Hjorth trained and played in Spain for the past two years and has achieved other accomplishments including a round of 16 finishes in a Grade 1 ITF in Austria and a semifinal finish in a Grade 2 ITF in the Netherlands.
