Sarmento appeared in 16 games, and scored six goals on the season, with a career-best three in a win over MIT. Also tallied against Santa Clara and Bucknell. Earned a spot on the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic Team.
Sarmento saw limited action in his first season at Pacific. He finished the year with two goals, scoring once in the Tigers' respective wins over Cal Lutheran and Claremont-M-S, both at the Aggie Shootout.
Sarmento joins the Tigers after graduating from Liberty High School in Brentwood, Calif. He earned four letters as a two-meter defender for the Lions and was an All-North Coast Section pick as a senior. He was an All-Bay Valley Athletic League selection his final three years and was named the league’s MVP as a junior and senior. Sarmento was also Liberty’s Offensive MVP his final three years after tallying 262 career goals and 194 career steals. He also earned four letters in swimming.
Sarmento played club water polo for the 680 Drivers from 2010-2012. He led his team to a fourth-place finish in the Gold Division at the KAP7 Tournament.
Sarmento was born in Walnut Creek, Calif., and is the son of Eric and Laurel Sarmento. Eric played football and ran track at Ohio State from 1978-1980. He has an older sister, Jenna. In his free time, Sarmento enjoys snowboarding and swimming, listening to music, hanging out with friends, and going out on his family’s boat on the Delta. He will pursue a degree in psychology.
