#5 Men's Water Polo Hosts #6 UC Irvine Friday

STOCKTON, Calif. - The No. 5 Pacific men's water polo team returns to Golden Coast Conference play on Friday, as the Tigers welcome No. 6 UC Irvine to Chris Kjeldsen Pool for a 7 p.m. start.

A pre-game tailgate will be held for fans and the game will feature a giveaway of mini water polo balls.

The Tigers remained No. 5 in Wednesday's edition of the CWPA Top 20 poll, as they enter the weekend at 12-3 overall, and 1-0 in the GCC. UC Irvine is ranked No. 6 at 10-4 on the year, also 1-0 in the GCC.

Pacific opened GCC play with a 14-10 win over then No. 6 Long Beach State on Sept. 30, the Tigers third win over the 49ers this season. The Tigers own nine wins over ranked teams, with Pacific's losses coming to then No. 1 Cal, current No. 2 UCLA and No. 4 Stanford.

UC Irvine owns a 9-8 win over UCLA on Sept. 30. The Tigers fell to the Bruins 9-8 on Sept. 23.  The Anteaters opened the season with losses to current No. 8 UC Santa Barbara and No. 10 UC Davis in their first three games, but have won three in a row following narrow defeats to No. 1 USC and No. 7 Long Beach State.

The top two point leaders in the conference square off as Pacific's Luke Pavillard (67 points) and UC Irvine's Lovre Milos (78 points) are tied for third in the GCC with 46 goals each. Engin Ege Colak is fifth with 43.  Milos leads the GCC with 32 assists, while Ben Stevenson is third with 25 and Pavillard and Kale Ai are tied for fourth with 21 each.

Milos ranks fourth in the conference in steals, behind Pacific's GCC leading 63 steals from John Hedges and 32 from Pavillard.

The Tigers' high-powered offense leads the conference with 248 goals in 15 games, while Irvine has tallied 174 in 14 games (fourth in the GCC). But the Anteaters' defense leads the conference with just 99 goals allowed, to the Tigers 125.
