Pacific Finishes 2-0 on Day One of Bay Area Kickoff

PALO ALTO, Calif. – The Pacific women's beach volleyball team went 2-0 on the first day of Stanford's Bay Area Kickoff in Palo Alto on Friday afternoon. 

The Tigers opened the day with a 5-0 sweep of San Francisco. No. 1 Skylar Wine and Maycie LaBass, No. 2 Roni Long and Taylor Poncetta, No. 3 Katrin Gotterba and Alex Holt and No. 5 Kaitlyn Lines and Olivia Petnicki

No. 4 Hanne De Schrijver and Ashlyn Fleming went 21-19 in the first set before allowing Hornets' Skylar Takeda and Sarah Falk to take the second set by a score of 21-13. De Schrijver/Fleming edged the Sacramento State pairing in the third set, 15-12.

In their second match of the day the Tigers edged WCC-foe Santa Clara 3-2. Snagging victories were Wine/LaBass, Long/Poncetta, and Gotterba/Holt. 

Gotterba and Holt continue to lead Pacific's squad, improving to 4-0 on the season. 

Pacific returns to the Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium Saturday for a noon match with San Francisco and a 3:00 pm match against the Cardinal.
