Pacific Drops Final Home Match to BYU

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Pacific women's tennis team dropped their final home match of the season, 4-1 against BYU in West Coast Conference action.  Cristina Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz recorded the Tigers point in singles play.  

Anneroos Nederstigt trailed early as she dropped her match to Kate Cusick, 6-2, 6-4 while Sabrina Rodriguez fell to Taylah Beckman, 6-4, 6-3 in fifth singles.  With the Tigers trailing, Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz picked up a point for Pacific quickly defeating Samantha Smith, 6-1, 7-5.  In first singles, Maayan Sela was dispatched by Savannah Ware in two sets, 7-6(4), 6-2.

With the score at 3-1, Anna Ramos Vinolas dropped the first set, 6-4 before battling back to take the second set, 6-2, but Natella Nabieva took the third set, 6-4 giving the Cougars the win.

Christiana Ferrari and Demi Perkinson were tied one set all when the match went unfinished.  With the match already decided, doubles was not played.  

The loss puts the Tigers at 5-11 overall and 0-6 in WCC action as the Cougars improve to 7-9 overall and 2-2 in conference play.  

The Black and Orange will finish the rest of WCC play on the road as they head to Portland on Friday and Gonzaga on Saturday.  Both matches are set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
