STOCKTON, Calif. – The University of the Pacific women's tennis team fell, 4-0, to Gonzaga University on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers fall to 6-11 overall and 2-5 in the West Coast Conference, while the Bulldogs improve to 15-6 on the season and 6-2 in conference.
After dropping in court one in doubles, Anna Ramos Vinolas and Karina Vyrlan tied it up with a 6-2 victory over their opponents, Nevada Apollo and Ashleigh Jacobs. However, it came down to a tie breaker on court three for the deciding point with Gonzaga winning the tiebreaker, 7-4 for the 7-6 victory.
In singles, three matches went unfinished. On court 4, Ramos Vinolas fell in set one before tying it up in set two with a 7-6 decision before going unfinished. Anneroos Nederstigt dropped set one and trailed in set two, 3-4, before the match ended.
On court 6, Sabrina Rodriguez took set one by a score of 6-2 before falling in set two, 3-6. However, the third set was tied 2-2 before the match ended.
Pacific heads to Brigham Young University and the University of San Diego on Friday, April 20 and Sunday, April 22 for the final two matches of the regular season. First serve is set for noon on Friday and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
