SAN DIEGO, Calif. – In their final match of the JLABS Challenge hosted by San Diego State the Pacific women's volleyball team fell to the Aztecs in straight sets (19-25, 17-25, 22-25).
The Tigers, who finished 1-1 on the weekend are now 4-5 on the season. San Diego State improves to 4-5 after also claiming a win against Long Beach State earlier in the day.
Emily Baptista was swinging hard for the Tigers the entire match, earning 12 of the team's 28 kills. Baptista was also one of three Pacific players to collect a team-high six digs. Andie Shelton and Maycie LaBass also tallied six digs on the night.
Although only collecting minimal kills on the night, Janie Feldsher added to her flawless run, hitting .633 (19-0-30) in her last three matches combined.
Despite falling short in kills and digs, the Tigers did out-block the Aztecs 14-8. Alex Holt led the effort at the net with four blocks. Shelton had three blocks, followed by Ashlyn Fleming and Baptista with two blocks a-piece. Janie Feldsher, Kaitlyn Lines, and Skylar Wine each totaled one block.
In addition, Baptista was awarded all-tournment honors after racking up weekend totals of 19 kills, 9 digs, four service aces, and three blocks.
After three week's on the road Pacific will return closer to home next week, traveling to Stanford on Friday night to open the WCC/Pac-12 Showdown play. The Tigers will host California for their home opener next Saturday.
