Getting right in the action, Riley Patterson appeared and started in all 29 matches for the Tigers. She collected 301 digs, 290 kills, and 31 total blocks. In her collegiate debut against New Mexico State (Aug. 24), the freshman reached a career-high of 18 kills. Patterson recorded a career-high of 23 digs in a 3-2 victory against San Francisco on Nov. 20, 2018.
Patterson helped Sonora High School to an unsurmountable amount of success in the Mother Load League, with a perfect 12-0 record for four-straight season (2014-2017). The two-time All-Mother Load League player was a member of the Division IV State Championship team and Sac Joaquin Section Championship team in 2014. Then as a junior (2016) she guided her team to the Division II Sac Joaquin Section Championship and Division III NorCal Championship appearances. Statistically, Patterson led the Wildcats in kills as a sophomore, junior and senior. In her final season she hit .335 with 450 digs, 320 kills, 297 service aces and 110 blocks.
Patterson has been a member of Rage Volleyball Club out of Ripon, Calif. for the past four years. During that time her teams were Open finalists twice, which included an Open National Championship in 2015, and won six national qualifiers.
